Paddle back in time as we explore Steamboat Slough! According to historical records researched by steamboatslough.com “Steamboat slough was one of the primary routes for steamers or paddle wheelers taking passengers, dry goods and foods between the gold mining hub or launch point of Sacramento to San Francisco, and back.” It became the favored route due to less navigational hazards than the Sacramento River. Historical records also show a number of shipwrecks occurring in this slough and even a gold heist in 1850.
